Why I say that because Yana is a perfect trek spot for starters, not too rough, tiring but has enough to make it a memorable one!</p><p><span> </span>I am basically from Surathkal, Mangalore. We decided to start our journey from Udupi as that turned out to be the convinient place for most of us. The plan was to start from Udupi early morning, have a break at <a href="http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMaravanthe&ei=n4HEUK2mK4LWrQfFyoCwDw&usg=AFQjCNEGCltX-BvbfDzhi6qaInlo-hbwOA&sig2=Jvbe3KgWmMa6ylpaCuNs2Q" title="Maravanthe" target="_blank">Maravanthe</a>, reach Yana by afternoon and if lucky visit some falls. Distance from Udupi to Yana is approx 180km. Google maps tells you it takes 4 hours, but trust me with the rough patch of road in between, it will take more!</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/abf5b-dsc_0009-001.jpg"><img alt="Dsc_0009-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/abf5b-dsc_0009-001.jpg" /></a></div> We had booked a 22 seater vehicle. The above pic courtesy Lancy Fernandes. The guy had bought a Nikon DSLR cam just a week back. Turned out to be pretty useful :) Even I was pretty excited to explore more with my cam, <a href="http://adithyabhat.posterous.com/lumix-dmc-tz10" target="_blank">Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10</a>.</p><p><span> </span>We started off from Udupi at 8.00 AM. On the way gave a visit to the <a href="http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=10&cad=rja&ved=0CF8QFjAJ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FAnegudde&ei=fJTEUM3RAom4rAeZ24GQDQ&usg=AFQjCNHIBcfiMlXBP-vylblmkg_9hfW-eA&sig2=CX_ed6FkOdzAPv-BFCbfzw" target="_blank">Aanegudde temple</a>. Next stop was Maravanthe beach, where we had our breakfast. After that it was a non stop journey till the Yana. Entertainment was never a problem as we had many dancers in our group :)</p><p> </p><p>We made a deviation to the left which led us to a narrower path. This deviation comes around 40kms before Sirsi.</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/2e870-p1030625-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030625-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/2e870-p1030625-001.jpg" /></a></div></p><p> </p><p>We reached Yana base location at around 1.00 PM. Vehicle can reach upto this location which meant that was the starting point of our trekking.. yay! I noticed there weren't much shops around there. Just one, where you can get some basic materials, cold drinks and some handicraft items (expensive!).</p><p><span> </span>We decided to refil our batteries before starting the trek, so had our lunch . Soon after that at around 1.30 PM, we started with our trekking. Err.. there wasn't much adventure, as it was just walking the up and down slopes! Ya that's why I had mentioned this is a trekking spot for starters :)</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/86c28-p1030638-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030638-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/86c28-p1030638-001.jpg" /></a></div></p><p> </p><p>On the way we found some small waterfalls. Ofcourse this excited us shutterbugs which made us get some clicks.</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/fad9e-p1030752-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030752-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/fad9e-p1030752-001.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/061e4-p1030643-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030643-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/061e4-p1030643-001.jpg" /></a></div></p><p> </p><p>Just 30mins of walk we started seeing the initial glimpses of the unusual rock formations. It is belived there is a rock formation representing Shiva. Water drips on top of that rock formation 24*7, 365 days. And the amout of water dripping is uniform throughout the year. </div><p /><div><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/c6238-p1030698-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030698-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/c6238-p1030698-001.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/2df74-p1030711-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030711-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/2df74-p1030711-001.jpg" /></a></div>Then we moved into the cave inside that rock. So that's exactly what I did :)</div><p /><p /><div>As expected the down journey was much quicker. We reached the base location before 4.00 PM. Just one thing was missing to complete the trekking and that was the group photo :D.</div><div><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/34bb2-p1030760-001.jpg"><img alt="P1030760-001" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/34bb2-p1030760-001.jpg" /></a></div></div><p /><div>We left Yana soon after that. Return journey was made fun with some interesting and err.. unseen, unusual or whatever dance performaces ;) The falls plan got dumped as we did not have enough time. We made a quick visit to Murudeshwara. It was dark already when we reached there. The place was fully lit and the huge Gopura and the Shiva statue made us dumb struck!</div><p /><div>Overall it turned out to be a very exciting, power packed day which was badly needed by all pf us. Hope there are many more trips like these in the future.</div><p /><div>Please do comment. I will be glad to help if you need any further info on Yana.</div><p /><div>Thank you for reading! :)</div>Adithyahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13442444383620202431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-502548626424029639.post-16041584003238984652012-09-15T21:01:00.000-07:002013-05-17T01:08:55.448-07:00Water droplets<p><span> </span>I am a big fan of water droplets photography, but was never sure if my <a href="http://adithyabhat.posterous.com/lumix-dmc-tz10">Panasonic Lumix</a> could handle it well. So couple od days back I deiced to give it a shot. :)</p><p><span> </span>Turned out my Lumix is not that bad! Initially the shots were not coming good. Atleast most of the snaps taken by me are around my house itself and a couple of them are very rare ones i must say! </p><p><span> </span>I have really enjoyed Bird photography. It takes a lot of patience and very slow movements cause you cant afford to scare them off. This year i got chance to visit 2 kite fests; one at Panambur Beach and the other at Malpe Beach. Both were pretty awesome.</p><p> </p><p><strong><span> </span>Kite fest at Panambur beach</strong> was on 22rd January this year. I had been there with my mom and cousins. If i was asked to give a one liner about this event it would be "Too much crowd!". Apart from kite flying there was so much happening around; music, cultural programs, food stalls, sand sculptures; and people just cant resist all those in the weekends. :) I managed to get some shots for my collection, The one below is my favorite.</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/f7e2a-p1010753-1.jpg"><img alt="P1010753-1" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/f7e2a-p1010753-1.jpg" /></a></div></p><p> </p><p><span> </span><strong>Kite fest at Malpe </strong>was on 29th January, just a few days after the Panambur beach fest. I had been there wiht my friends Rajendra and Ratan. This was my first visit to Malpe beach and it turned out to be a good experience. Malpe beach is bigger and thus can handle a bigger crowd. The main feature of the Malpe beach is the sitting statue Mahatma Gandhi at the entry. I managed to get a snap of that in an interesting way :) </p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/036a0-p1010845-1.jpg"><img alt="P1010845-1" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/036a0-p1010845-1.jpg" /></a></div>There were some nice sand sculptures made by some fine artists. I discovered it with some of the snaps i have taken. And i did it get them very easily; one taken at Bangalore, one at Ujire Estate (near Dharmasthala) rest are around my house. :)</p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/292bd-p1000063-1.jpg"><img alt="P1000063-1" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/292bd-p1000063-1.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/d52eb-p1010339.jpg"><img alt="P1010339" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/d52eb-p1010339.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/49339-p1010186-1.jpg"><img alt="P1010186-1" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/49339-p1010186-1.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/8d7d9-p1000587.jpg"><img alt="P1000587" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/8d7d9-p1000587.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/8ceba-p1010083.jpg"><img alt="P1010083" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/8ceba-p1010083.jpg" /></a></div></p>Adithyahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13442444383620202431noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-502548626424029639.post-34441239172264879462012-03-10T19:13:00.000-08:002013-05-17T01:08:55.453-07:00Morning sunrise..<p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/adc06-p31.jpg"><img alt="P31" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/adc06-p31.jpg" /></a></div></p>Morning sunrise view from my room. Whatever you want to paint into the photo, you have to do it in a mirrored fasion to get it right. :) Also you have to do these activities in the dark. It wasnt easy when i started off, but reallly enjoyed once i got the knack.</p><p><span> </span>"The Knack" is not a very big deal actually. LIght painting is a very sumple technique. Here is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_painting" target="_blank">wiki link for Light Painting</a>. In simple words these are just high exposure shots in the dark with a light source in the front of camera. Yes, high exposure time; in some of my shots exposure time is almost a minute.</p><p><span> </span>Tools used you ask? Just my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 cam, my mobile torch and iPod :) My cam is no DSLR, so i bet anyone with a cam with manual exposure setting feature can rip this off. </p><p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/a1804-p1010127.jpg"><img alt="P1010127" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/a1804-p1010127.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/dd38f-p1010129.jpg"><img alt="P1010129" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/dd38f-p1010129.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/7eebb-p1010135.jpg"><img alt="P1010135" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/7eebb-p1010135.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/49103-p1010255.jpg"><img alt="P1010255" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/49103-p1010255.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/43b59-p1010257.jpg"><img alt="P1010257" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/43b59-p1010257.jpg" /></a><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/9ac25-p1010259.jpg"><img alt="P1010259" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/9ac25-p1010259.jpg" /></a></div></p><p> </p><p>I was really impressed with some of the videos i had watched on Light painting. This is not exactly going to be a review of the cam, coz im no expert.. Personally i think the cam is almost perfect for a casual photographer like me.</p><p><span> </span><strong>Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10</strong> <span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;line-height:19px;">(also known as the DMC-ZS7 in the USA) </span>is in the market for more than a year. Panasonic persisting with this model in a very volatile camera market tells a lot about the performance of this camera.</p><p><span> </span>Its comes under the category of "Travel zoom" camera's. That's probably cause of its 12x optical zoom. Normally the Point and shoot camera's dont come with this range of optical zoom. I am not going to any more spec details, but i would like to provide the review links which give a good description of this cam.</p><ul><li><a href="http://www.dpreview.com/news/2010/1/26/panazs7" title="DPReview" target="_blank">DPReview</a> for clear specs of the cam</li><li><a href="http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_tz10_review/" title="Photography blog" target="_blank">Photographyblog.com</a> for detailed review.</li><li><a href="http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/compact-digital-cameras/panasonic-lumix-dmc-tz10-review-49305775/" title="CNET" target="_blank">CNET</a> for a dependable review.</li></ul><p>I bought this cam sometime in October 2011 form flipkart online store. It cost me 13000 INR (approx 265$ ). Just a few months back it costed close to 400$. The price drop according to me is mainly cause its more than a year old. It still beats some of the cams in the same range from Nikon, Canon, Sony. Anyways that's my opinion. Would like to hear from you if you have a different opinion or query regarding this cam.</p>Adithyahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13442444383620202431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-502548626424029639.post-4147236396998976982012-03-04T03:16:00.000-08:002013-05-17T01:08:55.405-07:00So it finally begins..<p><div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/1ae59-1wq.gif"><img alt="1wq" src="http://adi535.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/1ae59-1wq.gif" /></a></div></p><p><p>My personal blog..
